I’ve always thought what you put out to the universe will come back to you. You know, kind of like the book The Secret. I saw that eye roll, you’re laughing. I know, I know, some of what the book says is a little hard to believe. Like pretend you are driving a certain car and you will get it.
But let me tell you what recently happened to me. I’ve been wanting a laptop, so I can sit relaxed, watching a movie, writing instead of sitting in my home office at the desk like at work. I have been thinking about a laptop, talking about one and looking at prices in the sale flyers. I didn’t want one that was expensive since I pretty much just wanted to write. I just wanted one so I would quit using my daughter’s laptop.
Then I’m back to work after the holidays and someone brings in a laptop that they were thinking of selling to our organization for an intern computer, or they were going to put it on Craig’s List. I thought about it for about a minute and then thought ‘why shouldn’t I purchase the laptop?’ So I bought it. Now I own a laptop at a VERY low price.
Have you ever heard someone say “I don’t have any luck, I can’t win anything and nothing goes my way.” They are bringing negativity into their lives. With that kind of attitude, of course they won’t have things go their way. They won’t have any luck.
Now if they say “I’m a lucky person, this is going to be a fantastic day and I’m going to enjoy my day.” Most likely, they will have a good day. If the day turns into kind of a crappy day, it won’t feel bad because you started in a good mood. My husband is a lucky person. We always say how he is always winning things. Of course he wins things. Radio contests, door prizes and even a week in Florida for the entire family. One of my sisters is that way too. She goes to her wine club and says her name is going to be drawn. Pretty much every time the club meets her name is drawn.
Four years ago I was looking for a different job. I was all negative about it saying “I have to get out of this job.” “I can’t work here anymore.” “I need to leave this place.” Then my sister asked me why I was sending out all that negativity into the universe. So I changed my mantra. I started saying “I love my new job.” “My new job excites and fulfills me.” “I’m happy at my new job.” Within two months I was sitting behind my new desk at my current job and you know what, my job does excite and fulfill me. I really love what I do, I enjoy working for a non-profit and the people I work with are like family.
I have also had the experience of thinking about someone, remember a fun time we had, and next thing I know I have contact with them within 48 hours. Sometimes I hear from them within 5 minutes! It’s always a nice surprise when I hear from people I haven’t seen in years.
I completely believe what you put out into the universe is what you are going to get back. So if you start sending out negative vibes, have a negative speech going through your head or you are saying negative things out loud, stop, take a breath and replace it with a positive. You might be surprised what happens.
Until next time…enjoy the view from your passenger seat.
